Udzungwe has many other mammals and maybe safari is not the typical safari game you’d expect of Tanzanian National Parks. It is an esoteric safari destination for true nature lovers. Its mountains are fascinating to bird watchers, with at least 400 recorded species, 25 endemic.

Udzungwa Mountains National Park, situated in south-central Tanzania, spans approximately 1,990 square kilometers and stands as a sanctuary of natural beauty. Established in 1992, the park boasts a diverse landscape, featuring rolling hills, deep valleys, and the iconic Udzungwa Mountains, earning it the moniker “African Galapagos” due to its exceptional biodiversity. This biodiversity extends to avian life, making the park a haven for birdwatchers.

Hiking trails lead to mesmerizing waterfalls, including the renowned Sanje Waterfall, and offer birdwatching enthusiasts the opportunity to spot a variety of species, such as the colorful Iringa red-billed hornbill and other endemic birds.
