The park itself covers an area of approximately 14,750 square kilometers (5,700 square miles) and is part of the larger Serengeti ecosystem, which includes the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, Grumeti Reserves, Ikorongo Game Reserve, and the Maasai Mara in Kenya. The Serengeti is characterized by its expansive savannah landscapes, dotted with acacia trees, rocky outcrops, and seasonal rivers.

Apart from the iconic wildebeest and zebras, the Serengeti is home to an incredible diversity of wildlife.
