About Mount Kilimanjaro

Mount Kilimanjaro, often referred to as the “Roof of Africa,” is the highest peak on the continent and one of the most iconic landmarks in Tanzania. Standing at an impressive 5,895 meters (19,341 feet) above sea level, Kilimanjaro is a dormant stratovolcano composed of three cones: Kibo, Mawenzi, and Shira. Located near the border of Tanzania and Kenya, Kilimanjaro is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a popular destination for trekkers and climbers from around the world.

The mountain’s diverse ecosystems are a significant attraction, encompassing lush rainforests, alpine meadows, and an arctic summit. Climbing Kilimanjaro offers a unique experience as adventurers traverse through these distinct ecological zones, witnessing dramatic changes in scenery along the way.

Our Routes

You may climb Mount Kilimanjaro by several routes which have been established by the Tanzania National Parks Authority in order to preserve the pristine beauty of the wilderness for the generations to come and ensure the safety of climbers.

Lomosho Route

Featuring captivating scenic vistas, pristine wildlife, excellent acclimatization opportunities and low traffic of climbers, Lemosho is one of the best kilimanjaro routes

Machame Route

The second most popular option among the routes on Kilimanjaro is the Machame route, also known as “the Whiskey Route”

Marangu Route

Marangu or “Coca-Cola” route is the most popular of the available kilimanjaro routes today. It is the only route where overnight stays are in huts.

Rongai Route

Known for its more gradual ascent and offers a unique perspective of the mountain as it approaches from the north.

Umbwe Route

The shortest, steepest and hardest Kilimanjaro route. It’s not ideal for most trekkers, as it doesn’t give your body much time to acclimatise to the increased elevation.

Northern Route

Offering a more extended and scenic journey compared to many other routes. It’s known for its relatively low traffic and diverse landscapes.

JOIN ONE OF OUR GROUPS

You may join one of our scheduled Kilimanjaro adventures with fixed dates and prices. People from all over the world sign up for our expeditions. You will be in a cosmopolitan society and will share some costs with your fellow climbers. Thus “joinable” trips are cheaper than our custom tours, but please note, there is no flexibility regarding dates.
